Early Final Exam Policy
When students must travel an extraordinary distance to get home, our final exam schedule sometimes forces them to pay a great deal more for their ticket than if they had been able to fly just a few days earlier. In order to be sensitive to the needs of students who have come to BBC from a great distance, we will allow early final examinations under certain circumstances.
In order to take a final examination early, a student must petition the Academic Dean at least three weeks before his final examination. This petition would normally require that the student can demonstrate that
- The student is, in fact, going home.
- The student lives far enough away that air travel is required.
- The student’s home is overseas
- The student’s home is more than 13 hours (driving) from BBC
- The student will save substantially on an air ticket by leaving early.
After permission is granted,
- The Academic Office will notify the student and faculty member that permission has been granted to take an early examination.
- The instructor may choose to alter the format and content of the early exam in order to keep the later exam secure.
- The student must take the early exam within five days of the scheduled examination.
- The student must show a copy of his ticket or itinerary at the time of the early examination.
- The student must pay $10 to the academic office for the privilege of an early examination.
